Helping Hand for a Children’s Rugby Club

TRACO were contacted recently by the Phoenix RFC (Youth section) asking if we could help them find a storage solution for all the club equipment. The club is based in Taplow, Berkshire and formed in 1963. Over time the club has grown from being a men’s rugby club into having a women’s team called the Phoenix Flames, and the Junior team called the Fireflies. The club is growing and are close to having a junior girls team of U11.

The team believes sport should be for all and many of their coaches have been trained in SEND provision, helping to make the club as inclusive and accessible as possible. This accorded with our own ethos at TRACO as we believe in giving everyone the opportunity to be in fulfilling employment and part of an inclusive and tightknit team.

After hearing about TRACO, Phoenix RFC reached out to us to see if we could help them find a way to store their equipment. At the time they were using a storage container where space was shared among the various teams. As the club started to grow so did the amount of equipment. Unfortunately, the situation became unworkable and reached a point where racking was needed to allow the teams to store their equipment in their own shelves and areas.

The club contacted our Sales Manager and of course we jumped at the chance to help a small organisation dedicated to children’s sports. We looked at the various clearances we had coming up and identified one which had some racking we thought would be perfect for the job. This was sent to the club as a donation from TRACOUK.

img-8792-rfc3-build.jpegThe club were delighted with the racking and spent a weekend fitting it into img-8798-rfc2.jpeg the container, then organising the equipment into just the right locations. Not only has the new racking helped them store the equipment more effectively, but it’s also helped the parents and coaches to teach the children to clear away their training equipment neatly and more importantly, to be proud of their store.

Having the racking as a donation has helped the club img-8800-rfc4.jpegset up a working store which would otherwise have been a costly exercise, possibly even an impossible task. And it also means precious funds can go back to the club to support the children to enter tournaments and keep the club running.

At TRACO we’re thrilled to have been able to help the club and wish them lots of success in future years.
